CRABAPPLES IN THE SNOWSTORM

With temperatures plummeting
and more snow on the way,
I added a little color
to brighten this cold, cold, winter day...

Hope you're staying warm...and feeding the birds AND squirrels... :-)

GERBERA DAISY

Thanks to Sara Finton, I learned how to do the circular distortions yesterday. I was like a little kid experimenting with many of my images. I even created an abstract gallery this was such fun! This is a half distortion. I thought it was more interesting than the finished product and posted this one for today.

Here's the link to the complete circle...plus a few others...

DARK-EYED JUNCO

I couldn't decide if I liked this full version or cropped a little closer, the dilemma was cutting off those gorgeous red crabapples..I finally decided to share the full version of this pretty little bird with all the crabapples framing him. It was such a gloomy snowy day, so I revved up the colors with a watercolor filter (seen better in the larger mode) to cut down on the noise it created...this might be a future holiday card... :-)

Thank you all for your positive comments on yesterday's goldfinch...

EASTERN MEADOWLARK

Let me begin by thanking you all for all the warm compliments on my photos the last several days. I have tried to comment on some of yours as well, but slow internet and busy vacation days make it hard to get to everyone right now.

This is my first ever photo of a meadowlark. They are so skiddish at times that you can't get close enough to capture the image. I have several photos of him singing which I hope to share later . Picture this...this is how I captured this image. We're riding down a dusty, Florida back road in the "country" and there he is down the way on a fence post. I open my door and we crawl slowly towards the gorgeous guy. Bob stops the car at a reasonable distance and I prop my lens between the door frame and the car frame just above the hinge (more-less)...what a great image stabilitzer (lol) and a good blind too , it seems. I'm happy...isn't he a beauty?
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND...AND MANY THANKS AGAIN FOR STOPPING BY ALL THESE DAYS...

ROYAL CARIBBEAN "MAJESTY OF THE SEAS" AT SUNSET

(Details show up best when viewed larger)

Taken from the bow of our ship at sunset, this ship was turning around and heading out to sea from Freeport, in the Bahamas. This version is enhanced for some color pop (you know how I like color )
The more sedate color version his here:

AMERICAN GOLDFINCH

Not as sharp as I would like, but I sure liked this little bird. It is perched on top of a discarded Christmas tree that I dragged home to set up for the birds to take shelter in for the winter...it's a great prop, btw.... :-)

It's currently -8.7 on the digital thermometer ..wind chill expected to go up into the -20's For some of you that's a warm up, but it's pretty wicked outside here!!

SUNFLOWER BEAUTY

Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments on my flowers. I will continue to post them without guilt...however, the creative work I see in Dailies has inspired me to try to develop a photographic eye of other subjects as well. Your compliments and suggestions have been very helpful and appreciated.

The original to this sunflower is below, very little difference between the two, but I liked this one with more "pop" to it. It was taken in the morning when the partial shade cast a bluish hue to the leaves..I liked how it blended with the greens.

Heres the original:

YOU'RE ONE IN A MILLION

My first attempt at selective coloring! What fun! Three tries and two hours...not bad for a beginner :-)
Here's the unframed version for those that don't like the added dimension:
