Mom4squirrels > This is a little artsy one that I tried today in the rain. I did get the trees reflected in the drops, but boy do I appreciate all of you and the fabulous reflections you get in yours! I really had to work hard to get this one. Please feel free to make suggestions so I can improve!
Mom4squirrels > January 26th CAROLINA WREN We have a pair of male Carolina Wrens coming to our feeder each day now. Today was awfully cold and snowy, but they were there eating suet and looking handsome. (I have never had CWs in my yard like this before, but I dragged a discarded fir Christmas tree off a neighbor's tree lawn and laid it near the feeders...and in came the wrens :-D )
Mom4squirrels > December 9 2006 A BRIDGE REVISITED Here is the winter view of the bridge I photographed on November 16th in the mist: http://mom4squirrels.smugmug.com/gallery/1833354/2/110839282 I finally had time to post process it tonight after work. Notice the top of the tower reflected in the water. :-) I took my first shots in the morning in the wind and snow with my trusty plastic bag covering the camera and lens...then, wouldn't you know, the sun came out late in the afternoon...so I hopped back into the car and drove back to the spot in hopes of catching the shadows and reflections. (Soon after, we went out to dinner because I spent too much time photographing. Hmmm, sounds like a plan...}
Mom4squirrels > DEWEY SNEEZE WEED I went back to the "prairie" which is a grassy area of native plants at one of our Cleveland Metroparks locations (where I found yesterday's golden orb spider). I found lots of fun things to photograph. Today there was a praying mantis eating a grasshopper (which I will edit soon and add the link for all you ghoulish bug lovers..LOL). The choices were hard to make today, but this dewy flower was my favorite..hope it jumps out at you like it does on my screen.
Mom4squirrels > November 16th MIST IN THE MOAT The mist was rising off the waters around the moat that surrounds a private estate in Hunting Valley. The homes within the walls are now a historical landmark. I wish you could see the water droplets on the branches in front of the bridge, but they do not show on DP, only in a full sized version of this photo.
Mom4squirrels > February 12 A ROSE BY ANY OTHER NAME.... I have been trying to photograph this rose for two days to get the color right...Wow! I didn't realize it could be so hard. I need to borrow Vandana's light tent I guess :-). This is the most beautiful rose I have ever seen. It's a mix of corals and pinks which I hope you can see on your monitors. I experimented using the flash off camera...another learning experience of many many shots. The window seemed to blow the petal edges, the flash made shadows..so it was trial and error and at least 100 photos to get here. Any suggestions for how to do this well are gratefully appreciated! I hope to photograph this flower again tomorrow when it is a little more open..

Well anyway, I think this grackle rivals the angry bluebird...I love it. He was sitting on the dock in Monterey where our boat had just moored and I happened to have the camera in hand...lol
Mom4squirrels > December 23 TWO EGRETS AT SUNSET Merry Christmas everyone! We've just returned from Florida...Everglades, Merritt Island, (even saw manatees in Blue Springs!!) I hope to share some of the best of the incredible photo ops I had with you in the next several weeks. .... Missed being here on DP...but hope to contribute more consistently soon.
Mom4squirrels > River Reflections too October 8th I was priviledged to spend the day at a talk given by Arthur Morris!! Mr. Morris wrote the book THE ART OF BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY. He was quite delightful and his photos were breath-taking! So today's daily photo is actually from yesterday's trip to the park..one of many that I'd love to post...sigh...

I hope most of you are old enough to know that quote..I believe it was the Three Stooges? (Niagra Falls?) Well anyway, I think this grackle rivals the angry bluebird...I love it. He was sitting on the dock in Monterey where our boat had just moored and I happened to have the camera in hand...lol
