Mom4squirrels > I'm not really putting this here for serious critique..I know it's noisy etc. It's a huge crop among other things...I still like it in a small size though.
So, It's doubtful I'll be doing much posting...and especially commenting for at least a few days....I got a painful shot in my elbow tendon today...can't move my arm without pain now. ..starting at the elbow down to my knuckles. They said it should be better tomorrow..HA! That's because it's not THEIR ARM!!! I am looking at a month of therapy and then it may come down to surgery to clean out the frayed pieces of tendons that could be causing all of this. Typing one handed stinks...surgery would screw up my photography BIG TIME...
Bah-Humbug!!! Am I grouchy yet? :-) I'll try to post some more of the Fla photos..and just browse the ccc images for now...
Mom4squirrels > Ibis out of the camera...no post
Mom4squirrels > Here is the redo. I used fill flash, and didn't saturate the colors as much as before. I had NO idea that it was that far off kilter!! Wow, when I straightened it, I sure saw it. Thanks. Ok, so is this better? I also uploaded the original so you could see where I was starting from. I'm afraid I'm still in kindergarten on the use of CS3 tricks and techniques...how should I have toned down the beak in your suggestion?
Kurt, cutting off the reflection on the bottom left just the orange beak...I thought it looked strange, so instead I cropped a bit closer???
Mom4squirrels > December 31

WHITE IBIS

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! I will work on the reddish egret as soon as I can...in the meantime, I wanted to share this guy with you all. Seems I missed the full reflection again,... me thinks that the grasses were blocking my way ...
My resolution for 2008..among the many things I still have to learn about photography...I would sure like to improve my post processing skills as the number one....
Here's to a great 2008!
Mom4squirrels > Here are the other two of him running and mantling for fish. I could shoot myself on several of the shots where I missed the whole reflection because I got caught up in the moment and didn't look carefully in the view finder for the whole bird....oh well..
Now that I compare the three...I think the first image is too dark. How come when I set the black and white points sometimes it blows the image completely, and other times it works great?
I will give it a try Sean....here's hoping...
Mom4squirrels > Learning Through Critique photo
Mom4squirrels > Reddish Egret mantling in search of fish. I really like the wings...I was on a boardwalk above him...so I couldn't get down low enough to catch the eye...do you like this even without most of the head? I have cropped it slightly so I wouldn't lose the feel of the bare expanse of water.
Mom4squirrels > Ok, Tom...is this what you had in mind?
(I still can't get the series to line up in this gallery...the more I try to move them...the more scattered they become...sorry. They are set up to appear in reverse order ..most recent first, but the others keep ending up on the last page....)
Mom4squirrels > "pano" crop per suggestions from Gail and Sean... Does this make it look stronger or do the clouds give it more depth? I have to admit I am beginning to like this one better...
