Mom4squirrels > DOWNY WOODPECKER
Finally started using the burst mode on my XT. Guess it paid off..at last. He was banging away at the suet in the hole but stopped occasionally for a look around! I cropped this one a little bit, the original is at http://mom4squirrels.smugmug.com/gallery/1833354/1/92219801 Please tell me what you think...too busy with the greens on the left or just right? I actually like the original better..but wonder what you professionals think. Thanks
Mom4squirrels > This is a little artsy one that I tried today in the rain. I did get the trees reflected in the drops, but boy do I appreciate all of you and the fabulous reflections you get in yours! I really had to work hard to get this one. Please feel free to make suggestions so I can improve!
Mom4squirrels > This lacy looking design is a decaying piece of a broken tree that I happened upon while walking in the woods (without my tripod of course!). I just loved the curls and swirls! I held my breath and prayed as I tried to steady myself..then pressed the shutter button to take the photo.
Mom4squirrels > YESTERDAY, TODAY, AND TOMORROW

I am working on hand holding the camera with my 60mm lens. I go to my garden each day to see if any of my cherry tomatoes are ready for me to snack on. I spotted these three tomatoes on the bush and thought...there's a ripe one from YESTERDAY, one that should be ripe later TODAY and hopefully one for TOMORROW (or the next day...lol) It took a little body twisting to get them and their leaves composed, but here they are...hand held shot and all. Not too bad for an old gal do ya think? :o)
Mom4squirrels > MOLLIE THE IRISH POODLE?

Mollie is my 9 pound maltese/poodle. At 8 years old she is still a bouncing pup who loves to play. My husband, Bob, cut the grass tonight and Mollie was out enjoying the evening air watching him. Apparently, she decided that the newly cut moist grass had a most appealing aroma and added a green hairdo by rubbing her head in the clippings. In the evening light, with a flash you don't get the full effect of the green tint all over her head, but take it from me...she could be the lead dog in the St. Patrick's Day Parade ...if only it was held in September! More photos of the green dog are in my family and pet gallery http://mom4squirrels.smugmug.com/gallery/1858336
Mom4squirrels > JAPANESE ANEMONE

This lovely flower grows in clumps in my garden. Notice the little bug on the bud in the upper left side of the picture :o)
Mom4squirrels > GOLDEN ORB SPIDER WITH PREY

I'm just learning Photoshop, so I am sure this could be improved greatly...but I wanted to at least post a photo for today..even if it is a little soft. The grasshopper got caught in the web (which was absolutely perfect) and the spider ran down and spun that cocoon over it in a matter of seconds..then went back to its perch in the center and waited for more. Very cool web too...will post those in my gallery tomorrow.
Mom4squirrels > DEWEY SNEEZE WEED

I went back to the "prairie" which is a grassy area of native plants at one of our Cleveland Metroparks locations (where I found yesterday's golden orb spider). I found lots of fun things to photograph. Today there was a praying mantis eating a grasshopper (which I will edit soon and add the link for all you ghoulish bug lovers..LOL). The choices were hard to make today, but this dewy flower was my favorite..hope it jumps out at you like it does on my screen.
Mom4squirrels > SPIDER WEB FUN

We went looking for a new washing machine today...no time for taking photos...so here is one from yesterday that I had fun with...For someone who fears spiders, I certainly have been fixated on them for two days! (Try to view this one in the large format..it looks much more interesting...)
