Mom4squirrels > A TOUCH OF COLOR AMONG THE THORNS

I spotted this lone New England Aster growning in among the thorns of a bare hawthorne tree in a field. The gentle breeze and dappled sun made it stand out among the brown tones of the branches and dead leaves.

(This is the best I can get the saturation for upload onto Smug Mug. It shows up either too dark or medium light. However, I also like the soft tones, so it was a toss up as to which one was better. I particularly liked the sunlight on the thorns and flower.)
Mom4squirrels > LITTLE GREEN APPLES

These little green apples were "ripe" for shooting as they dangled peacefully in the afternoon September sun.
Mom4squirrels > Crabapple Tears Too

This is my favorite of the crabapple photos. It looked too dark until I uploaded it to Smug Mug, so I didn't use it. Vandana commented on photo #1 so I think I have to leave it for now...but I think this one is better.
Mom4squirrels > CRABAPPLE TEARS

It rained AGAIN today..prediction is through the weekend. Ugh!
So I ran out with my..ok, THE trusty 70-200 and photographed the crabapple tree across the street during a break in the downpour..and before the wind blew the apple tears away.
Mom4squirrels > THE LAST OF THE DAYLILLIES

What a fun-filled late afternoon I had today! Thusie knows how I have been struggling with focusing and hand holding shots with my Canon XT (and my 100-400mm IS, L glass lens to name one in particular), so she sent me her trusty Canon 70-200mm..without IS to try. It focused so fast...WOW and in low light!(Good friend isn't she?) Here is just one of the results with the lens..UNCROPPED, Hand held, overcast, very late afternoon shot! I haven't had this much fun in a long long time! The lens is so light I hardly knew it was there...and the L glass...ahhh yes!
Thanks Thusie!!! I can't wait until tomorrow! :-) ...now if we can just get my monitor calibrated properly... I will be one HAPPY camper!!!
Mom4squirrels > RED LEGGED GRASSHOPPER

Just another critter from the fields in the park. I really liked these guys. They were about 2" long and can they spit "tobacco!" Yuck!!
Mom4squirrels > ASTERS IN THE COUNTRY
Mom4squirrels > TEASEL

Sometimes people confuse this plant with Thistle, but it is actually teasel. It is widespread through Ohio. The brown stalks are a sure marker of Fall around the corner.
I finally hand held a shot without wiggling and did a lot of playing with dof with my 60mm! We have had rain for 4 days now, so this was taken under threatening skies. It is not cropped. There is a second one too if you want to tell me what you think..
http://mom4squirrels.smugmug.com/gallery/1855637. My husband likes this one. I'm just tickled it is in good focus (seen better in the large format.)
Mom4squirrels > Archival Bee

Two days of constant orphan squirrel calls and rain have kept me from the daily photo challenge to myself to give you a new photo of my day. This is one you haven't seen, so rather than have nothing to share, I am sending along a recent but not today's photo of a bee...
