BEE CAREFUL

The sage flowers are fading now leaving the bees with little to eat. This bee appears to be biting through the back of the a dying flower in hopes of getting the last of the nectar. Looks like one of those "hang in there" photos to me :-)
I tried to crop it off center, but some photos just end up in the middle no matter what you do!

WOOD DUCK

Went to the duck pond today and photographed the wood ducks. This is my husband's choice..mine is in the gallery: http://mom4squirrels.smugmug.com/gallery/1761912/6/101349791
What do you think?

Two problems.. 1) This is in RAW and I don't know how to post process yet (other than generic highlights and sharpen in iPhoto and 2) One of my CF cards suddenly came up with CF ERR...stopped taking pictures and could not be opened even with retrieval software. Anyone ever have that problem? Do you know the cause? This was a Lexar 1GB pro card. Wonder if my best shots are sitting in there, unreadable??
Mom4squirrels > River Reflections too
October 8th

I was priviledged to spend the day at a talk given by Arthur Morris!! Mr. Morris wrote the book THE ART OF BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY. He was quite delightful and his photos were breath-taking! So today's daily photo is actually from yesterday's trip to the park..one of many that I'd love to post...sigh...
Mom4squirrels > REFLECTIONS IN THE RIVER
 OCTOBER 7TH

My husband, Bob and I took a walk late this afternoon in the park along the river..the water was still enough to provide us with a beautiful reflection of the trees above. I believe you can see the snails on the stones under the water.
Here are some of the other reflections with ripples making it look like a water color See gallery below

CHIPMUNK DECISIONS!

Oops, I discovered that I accidently left a bowl of yesterday's fruits and veggies out on my patio. As I walked by the door, there the chipmunk was, thinking about whether to jump in or run away...later photos reveal his choice! So I of course grabbed my camera!!!( This was taken late in the day under an awning, so I am tickled that I even got the shot!)

Here is his decision:

Mom4squirrels > WATERFALL IN THE PARK
10/4/06
IT'S HERE!!!! Went out and played with my new 30D before the rain..again! OMG what fun! Andrea, you have to get one...didn't even notice the weight! I put it in burst mode high and thought I was using a machine gun! My Xt is great, but the speed of this camera makes it FABulous! Please send the hummingbirds back north for a few days...gotta try it! Hugs to all of you who pushed me to take the plunge!!!(If this looks pixelated it isn't...it looks strange on DP)

Here is a sampling of my experiments with the camera...I took 109 pictures,..there are only 23 or so here! There are conifers for Don Surratt too

Mom4squirrels > COLORADO POTATO BEETLE

The common black and yellow-striped "potato bug", a very familiar insect to home gardeners, is the most serious insect pest of potatoes, tomatoes and eggplants. OH GREAT! I watched him climb on a dogwood twig right next to my tomatoes!!! Little did I know. Want another view? http://mom4squirrels.smugmug.com/gallery/1761912/1/99850728

RAINY DAY TEAR DROPS

The anemone's are fading as raindrops fill the air. The flower edges, turning brown are still reaching towards the sky where the warming rays of the sun may still dry them before the chilling night air...
