YOU'RE ONE IN A MILLION

My first attempt at selective coloring! What fun! Three tries and two hours...not bad for a beginner :-)
Here's the unframed version for those that don't like the added dimension:

Today is our 7th anniversary... This one is for you honey, because you ARE "one in a million!"

YELLOW ROSE

This was the most fragrant, beautiful rose I have come across in many years...there is almost no post processing here...a little saturation with curves and sharpening...

SWALLOWTAIL BUTTERFLY

While working on another photo to post, I came across this one that I processed last month. I know most of you are not fans of framing, but I love to play with photos in them in my new software. I promise not to post them often, but I really liked how this one came out. Tomorrow back to the most recent shots...

WHITE-THROATED ROBIN

This one is for TomL...he keeps "teasing" me with the wonderful birds of Texas. This is a VERY RARE bird for the USA. It is the only known one in the States and is currently in Pharr, Texas. White-throated robins have only been seen in the States a few times in history.. (see the white bib),they are found in Mexico but not here. This one apparently got confused and landed in Texas. He is hanging out with other robins, mostly Clay-Colored Robins (http://Mom4squirrels.smugmug.com/gallery/2398293_NM4ud#294613412_T7bT6) and is doomed to iive out his life without others of his kind. At the Williams Wildlife Gardens, he enjoys a treat of grapefruits and tomatoes provided on the branches in the woods.

BTW, Wildbirds Unlimited asked me to send the photo of the red squirrel from yesterday...will let you know if they like it....cool!

SOME "WILD BIRD"!

I Spent a few hours yesterday photographing flowers for DP, but this red little squirrel HAD to debut on SmugMug first!! I think I'll email a copy to Wild Birds Unlimited.... :-)

Also, thank you to all of you for your supportive and very complimentary comments on my recent photos...One never knows how others see their work, so it is really meaningful to read all those compliments.

Ljn 335...it IS a baffle overhead, however I use it as a rain guard over the nuts and seeds below. The feeder is situated right next to a branch for hopping in...

HOUSE SPARROW

Been laying low trying to rest my ailing arm and not sling my big camera around for a while yet....darned computer irritates it a lot. too. I'm slowly becoming right handed..lol My husband and I gave a little class for our park system on point and shoot photography on Tuesday...thanks again to Shelly for the loan of one of her photos for that purpose. In the process of locating photos for class, I found a folder from Fall that I didn't post process..so I thought I'd share it on dailies.

BUBBA IN PORTRAIT ;-)

Bubba (who was named such because he was a chubby baby squirrel who became best friends with a tiny orphaned red squirrel), loves to sit on this squirrel feeder (minus the screw for the corn), and watch the yard.

Here's Bubba "framed"...

Mom4squirrels > GREEN JAY

My favorite bird! There is something about the colors and the antics of the Green Jay that attract me to this and beautiful bird. This photo was taken in Texas at a nature preserve called Laguna Atascosa.

My husband and I are birders and lead a birding trip to the Rio Grande Valley in April, 2008 for the Cleveland Metroparks. We saw 141 species in 4 days!!

TO ALL MY FRIENDS ON DP...Hello once again!! I have greatly missed visiting your photos and participating on SM for the past few months. I have been fortunate to travel this spring. I was in Florida in February and Texas in April. Need I tell you how many photos I have been post processing and sorting? I have just finished an iDVD program for the birders that is a compilation of their photos and mine all set to music. I sorted through 1668 photos!! I am finally done!!

On the negative side, I am still struggling with the elbow problems that plagued me throughout the fall and winter... so on June 16th at the suggestion of an orthopedic surgeon I am having surgery to remove scar tissue from the tendon on my LEFT elbow. This should finally solve my problem. Of course, I will once again be out of commission for photography AND significant typing for a while. (sigh). I have a bunch of photos from the trip that I hope to post on Dailies during my "down" time....I have been away for too long! So I hope to get back in the loop once again and start posting and visiting once after I start recuperating.... Mom4
