HOUSE SPARROW

Been laying low trying to rest my ailing arm and not sling my big camera around for a while yet....darned computer irritates it a lot. too. I'm slowly becoming right handed..lol My husband and I gave a little class for our park system on point and shoot photography on Tuesday...thanks again to Shelly for the loan of one of her photos for that purpose. In the process of locating photos for class, I found a folder from Fall that I didn't post process..so I thought I'd share it on dailies.

MALE WOOD DUCK

Too cold to go out and photograph...fingers and shutters certain to freeze! I came across this photo from last fall that, among many others weren't post processed yet. I figured we all could use some color these days...Gosh they're beautiful birds!!
The photo was taken at the Cleveland Metroparks, North Chagrin Reservation. If you live in the area ..next fall be sure to visit the ponds there if you want wood duck photos! Arthur Morris was here about 3 years ago and remarked on the fabulous bird photos he was able to get there. He thought it was one of the best places to photograph them!

MERRITT ISLAND SUNSET

It was 6 degrees this morning..windchill in the minus teens...I'd rather be back here in Florida watching the warm sun set on the grasses and ponds, and birds.... and look forward to the sun rising on greenery in the morning! :-)

ABSTRACT AMARYLLIS

I decided to play with one of my previous flower photos...trying to be creative somehow. I experimented with different filters and curves on a tomato red amaryllis and came up with this abstract. My desired photo style and goal is to make nature look as beautiful in my images as it is to my eyes...but sometimes, tweaking that image can be just plain fun!

FEMALE PINTAIL

I believe this is a pintail...my Sibley's doesn't show the detail very well on the wing...This image is from Florida. The duck was eating some pond plants...one piece still hanging.

WATERCOLOR CARDINAL

Ya know, when the big falling snowflakes keep ruining your photo...it's time to get creative! This cardinal sat so nicely for me for the longest time (across the yard of course) that I had to do SOMETHING to get his photo on Dailies to show him off. :-)

GREAT EGRET

No egrets here...this was a tough early morning sun shot of the egret perched in the top of the tree. Though I wish there was more feather detail, I am thrilled that I got the bird so clearly.

PER MICHAEL SULLIVAN'S SUGGESTION, I CLONED OUT A COUPLE OF DISTRACTIONS IN THE PICTURE...THANKS MICHAEL...YOU WERE SO RIGHT...I LIKE IT BETTER!

BLACK VULTURE

We saw Black Vultures and Turkey Vultures while in Florida. They were unafraid of humans at Myakka State Park where this was shot. I think they're really neat looking birds...I don't think we get these guys up here in Cleveland very often, if at all. This is a very slight cropped image, so you can see that he wasn't very far away. Here's my second choice shot of him: http://Mom4squirrels.smugmug.com/gallery/2398293#242771269

TRI-COLORED HERON CATCHING A FISH

If you look very carefully you can see that the heron actually has a little fish in its beak!
