HOUSE WREN SINGING FOR HIS MATE

We were fortunate to have this wren find a mate and raise two clutches of babies..in two different houses on our patio. He sang and sang for at least two weeks until his " bride" was chosen.

FLOWER FOR AN HOUR

That is the actual name for this wildflower...and annual in NE Ohio. I discovered it yesterday, in a bare spot near my wildflower garden....turns out the blossoms only last until the sun shines on them and then they close up and die..Hence the name. They are related to the mallow and hibiscus plants

THESE LITTLE WRENS WERE HATCHED ON OUR PATIO THIS SUMMER. WE HAD WATCHED PAPA WREN SING AND SING FOR A MATE CONSTANTLY FOR NEARLY A MONTH,... THEN WE WATCHED HIM FEED THIS FEMALE AS THEY INCUBATED THE EGGS. ONCE HATCHED, THE PAIR FED THE GROWING CHICKS CONSTANTLY FROM SUN UP TO NEAR DARK. YESTERDAY WE SAW OUR FIRST LITTLE WREN HEAD, TODAY, THEY FLEDGED. OF COURSE I LOGGED THIS PROCESS WITH THE CAMERA ALL SEASON LONG. ..INCLUDING VIDEO. THIS WAS THE ONLY SHOT I GOT OF TWO OF THE 4-5 YOUNG. I HAVE ABOUT TWO MORE AND THEN THEY WERE OUT OF SIGHT AND NOW GONE.
IT SURE FEELS LONELY OUT THERE WITHOUT THEM.
